Beastie Boys to Release Limited-Edition Reissue of ‘Check Your Head’ Box-Set in Celebration of LP’s 30th Anniversary

UMe has announced that in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Beastie Boys’ multi-platinum album Check Your Head, they will release a limited-edition reissue of the ultra-rare 4LP deluxe version box-set of the album, originally released in 2009, on Aug. 12 of this year.

Along with the remastered recording of the original double album, the new reissue will also come with two extra LPs of bonus content comprised of live versions, B-sides and remixes. The hardcover case boxset will contain all four 180-gram pressed vinyl, fabric wrapped and stamped. The deluxe reissue can be purchased at retail outlets and is also available for preorder on the Beatie Boys’ online store.

Check Your Head was released on April 21, 1992, and featured Adrock on guitar, Mike D on drums and saw MCA return to bass for the first time since the musical pioneer’s 1980 hardcore punk recordings – marking a return to live instrumentation for the New York City rap group. Check Your Head featured the keyboardist Keyboard Money Mark who would go on to work with the group until 2011 and also was the Beastie Boys’ first record with producer Mario Caldato Jr. at their own G-Son Studios in Atwater Village, Calif. Notable tracks on the LP include “Pass the Mic,” “Jimmy James,” “So What’cha Want,” “Lighten Up” and all of which helped define a new era of American music.

The deluxe limited-edition box-set of Check Your Head is available for preorder now and can be found here. It will ship and be available for purchase at participating independent retailers on Aug 12.
