Barbie Introduces New Stevie Nicks ‘Bella Donna’ Doll
Stevie Nicks is a Barbie. And, a sold-out Barbie at that.
The doll, created in collaboration with makers Mattel, takes inspiration from the songstress’ Bella Donna era, the first record she released under her own name, which resulted in timeless classics, launched her solo career, and prompted the Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers duet, “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around,” the Don Henley featured “Leather and Lace,” “Edge of Seventeen” and country-stained “After the Glitter Fades,” all of which received hit single status between 1981-82.
The toy, which sold out in less than 24 hours, co-opts Nicks’ distinct, witchy style: a flowing white dress with cascading floor-length sleeves, matching white boots meant to mimic the cover art, and evoke the lines from those above, “Edge of Seventeen,” “Just like the white-winged dove/ Sings a song it sounds like she’s singin’/ Ooh, ooh, ooh.”
Like any classic Barbie, Nicks comes with accessories to showcase her personality, including a white bird perched on her hand, a signature top hat, and beaded earrings peeking through her permed blonde curls. View the product here.
