Backline Launches B-LINE Mental Health & Crisis Hotline
Backline, the music industry mental health and wellness nonprofit, has unveiled B-LINE, a 24/7 crisis support line for music professionals. B-LINE’s confidential direct channel to trained counselors is accessible to anyone facing the pressures of working in music – including artists, crew, staff and family members – at any time by calling 1-855-BLINE99 or texting 254-639.
B-LINE’s unprecedented resource for the music community marks the realization of a goal Backline has held since its founding in 2019. “This has always been the dream,” said Backline Co-Founder and Executive Director Hilary Gleason. “We’ve supported thousands of music industry professionals in their mental health and wellness journeys, but one critical piece was missing: real-time access to care. B-LINE changes that.”
Rooted in the renewed visibility for artist care resources that came from Chappell Roan’s Best New Artist acceptance speech at the 2025 Grammy Awards, and her We Got You! fundraising partnership with Backline, B-LINE was launched with lead sponsor Spotify, Noah Kahan’s The Busyhead Project and Live Nation. Additional support for the initiative came from Adyen, AEG Presents, Red Light Management and Wasserman Foundation.
“These are close partners that have been key in advancing our mission over the past six years,” Gleason continued. “When we started to bring up B-LINE with them, it became more and more clear that this was the initiative that could change the industry for good.”
“I started working with Backline to provide mental health services for my touring band and crew in 2023,” Kahan shared. “Support for the wellbeing of the incredibly hard-working artists and people that make the music industry function has long been neglected. A dedicated 24-hour hotline is the first step toward accessing critical mental health support. The Busyhead Project and I are proud to work with Backline to create a pathway toward a healthier future and an entry point for accessing resources.”
To date, Backline has invested $3.5 million into mental health resources in the music industry and supported more than 84,000 people. Learn more about the organization at backline.care.
