Arlo Guthrie will return to the stage for the first time since the global pandemic in 2023. The veteran songwriter, whose music has been associated with Thanksgiving since the release of his 1967 LP Alice’s Restaurant, will launch his new series, Arlo Guthrie – What’s Left Of Me – A Conversation With Bob Santelli, following three years of retirement from the road. The four-part series, which will mix conversations and music, promises “heard-before stories and wildly entertaining tales from one of America’s most beloved storytellers.” As of press time, the run will include stops at Boston’s The Schubert Theater (4/1), Albany’s The Egg (4/21), West Long Branch, NJ’s The Pollak Theatre (4/28) and Stowe, VT’s The Spruce Peak PAC (5/27). Bob Santelli is the executive director of the Grammy Museum.

A note from Guthrie’s team reads, “In October 2020, Guthrie announced his retirement from the road amid the onslaught of the Coronavirus pandemic. Two years later, he’s had enough of retirement and launched a new company Gut3 Productions with his wife Marti Ladd to present the new In Conversation with Arlo Guthrie four-part series. Ladd is the Director of Set Design for the series and has created a beautifully intimate setting with a backdrop of Arlo’s heroes and mentors hanging within a living room environment.”

Guthrie suffered a “mini-stroke” in 2016 and two more in 2019, which, he says, impacted his ability to walk and perform music. In a statement he said, “When I saw the play-back in the editing room I realized that it was not up to the standards I expected of myself, let alone the expectations that our friends and fans had come to enjoy.”

Guthrie hosted his final Thanksgiving weekend performance at Carnegie Hall in 2019. Guster will perform at the famed venue this weekend.
