A slew of musicians will pay tribute to Sly & the Family Stone this weekend. Billed as Thank You Sly!, the shows will take place at Novato, CA’s HopMonk Tavern this evening, September 4 and Santa Cruz, CA’s Woodhouse Blending & Brewing tomorrow, September 5. Building off a similar run of shows this spring, the gigs will bring together ALOs’ Dan “Lebo” Lebowitz, Ezra Lipp and Steve Adams, onetime Tonight Show band member Vicki Randle, Frank Zappa collaborator Ray White, Grateful Dead family member Mookie Siegel, trumpeter Brendan Liu, Con Brio’s Marcus Stephens, and Trey Anastasio Band’s Natalie Cressman. “🪩Building off our last weekend run back in the Spring, we are excited to continue this tribute tradition by going deeper on the tunes and interplay,” Adams said in a post. “We also expanded our horn section to include the wonderfully talented Natalie Cressman.”
ALO will perform next at Santa Barbara, CA’s All Gaucho Reunion on October 17.
