What is billed as the last North American BEAT Tour will kick off on October 9 in Santa Cruz. This series of shows will pull together the all-star cast of guitarists Adrian Belew and Steve Vai, bassist Tony Levin, along with drummer Terry Bozzio to present the music of King Crimson. Levin was a longtime member of King Crimson and Belew appeared with various incarnations of the group.
Danny Carey had been playing drums with the collective but is unable to do so this fall, due to commitments with Tool.
Belew notes, “For those of you who’ve seen BEAT live, it’s important to note we’ll be adding some material from ’90s Crim to our Fall tour. Along with the addition of superman drummer Terry Bozzio, we feel this will result in a new experience for our audience — and this may be your last chance to hear this band play these songs. We’re very excited to play for you again. Don’t miss it!”
Vai adds, “Terry is one of the truly legendary drummers of our time, whose remarkable career and unique musical voice make him the perfect artist to join us for this tour. He brings his own extraordinary artistry to BEAT, and that’s something worth celebrating. Our deepest appreciation goes to our brother Danny Carey—a true BEAT-Poet. His extraordinary musicianship, generosity, humor, and explosive creativity helped establish BEAT as something far beyond a tribute. He helped create its identity. While Tool commitments keep him from joining us this fall, he remains an essential part of our family.”
Tickets for all of the U.S. dates are now on sale.
