Mountain Jam returned on Thursday at its new location in Bethel Woods, NY, after moving from its previous home at Hunter Mountain, and the festival kicked off its “Back to the Jam” 2019 gathering with a headlining set from Twiddle and music from Marco Benevento and Stephen Lewis & The Big Band of Fun.
Benevento, who also plays Mountain Jam tonight with Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, performed with his trio featuring bassist Karina Rykman and drummer Andy Borger, running through cuts from his 2016 album, The Story of Fred Short, plus older tunes like “Greenpoint” and even “Solid Gold,” a tune from Benevento’s to-be-announced studio album set for release later this year.
For their evening performance, Twiddle offered two sets of their live staples, kicking off with “Syncopated Healing” and featuring fan favorites like “Jamflowman,” “Amydst the Myst” and a closing run of “Hatti’s Jam” into “When It Rains It Pours.”
Check out Twiddle’s setlist below, along with photos from opening night. Mountain Jam 2019 continues today with music from Gov’t Mule, JRAD, Toots & The Maytals, Mandolin Orange, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, Sister Sparrow & The Dirty Birds, Andy Frasco & The U.N. and more.
