Video Premiere: Derek Trucks Joins Seafoam Green for “Mine All Mine”

Seafoam Green, the duo made up of Dave O’Grady and Muireann McDermott Long, are set to release their upcoming record Martin’s Garden on June 1. The album will feature their new track “Mine All Mine,” which includes slide guitar contributions from Derek Trucks. Today, we are premiering the music video for “Mine All Mine.”

The duo first became acquainted with members of the Tedeschi Trucks Band when drummer Tyler “Falcon” Greenwell heard they were working on a new record and made an effort to get involved. Greenwell eventually became a producer for the project, which let to Trucks joining them for “Mine All Mine.”

“When we were recording the song in Atlanta, Tyler pulled me outside to chat about the song and the approach for the day,” O’Grady said, recalling how Trucks came to be on the track. “Referring to the demo Tyler said ‘Dave, there is a lot of slide on this song…do you want Derek to do it?’ and I thought ‘DO I WHAT????? WHAT. A. DREAM.’”

“’Mine All Mine’ is definitely my favorite song to sing live. [It was] written as an ode to my fiancé at the time before we were married,” O’Grady continued. “There is so much love in the song and I think Derek captured perfectly what we are saying.”

“’You will never waste my time’, the first line of the song came from ‘my muse’ or whoever sends me inspiration. It was the first block laid to start building the house that would become ‘Mine All Mine’,” he explains. “My original approach was to use that phrase as a message to someone who I would not let waste my time in a negative way, but the song quickly told me that it was actually going to be a love letter and totally flipped the meaning of the first line. I love that about writing, same line, many meanings or interpretations and you can’t always take credit.”
