Video Premiere: Bill & Jilian Nershi “Colorado Girl”

The String Cheese Incident’s Bill Nershi and his wife Jilian released an album this past July, titled partNERSHIp. The album was recorded live in just one day back in February. Today, we are proud to premiere a video of their performance of Townes Van Zandt’s song “Colorado Girl,” which appears on the record.

“I heard Steve Earle sing ‘Colorado Girl’ on the David Letterman show and fell in love with it,” Jilian Nershi told Relix. Earle included “Colorado Girl” on his 2009 record Townes, which was a tribute to his mentor Van Zandt.

The album was recorded on February 14, 2020 at Big Basin Vineyards in California. “It means even more to us now that Bradley Brown’s house, where this live album was recorded, has been lost in the last month to the California fires,” Jilian noted.

In addition to “Colorado Girl,” the record contains a cover of Pink Floyd’s “Comfortably Numb,” as well as songs Nershi wrote for SCI including “Smile,” “Colorado Bluebird Sky” and “Elvis’ Wild Ride.”
