Watch Pearl Jam’s Short Film _Lightning Bolt_
In anticipation of their tenth studio album, Lightning Bolt, Pearl Jam released a Danny Clinch-directed short film that features the members of Pearl Jam discussing their upcoming October 15 release. The nine-minute film includes the likes of director Judd Apatow, Portlandia’s Carrie Brownstein, world champion surfer Mark Richard, and former NFL safety Steve Gleason who retired in 2007 after revealing he was battling ALS, all interviewing the band.
As far as the music is concerned, Eddie remarks that everyone played “out of their minds” on this record. Guitarist Mike McCready also says that drummer Matt Cameron was on another level, noting that the songs will sound great “if I can keep up with [Cameron].” Fans will also get to hear clips of “Lightning Bolt,” “Future Days” and “Getaway” as well as the latest single “Sirens” which each band member claims as the song they are most proud of on the album.
Lyrics are always a hot topic amongst hardcore Pearl Jam fans, to which Stone Gossard says Eddie Vedder is “on a tear right now” and that the band wants him to write as much as he wants to at the moment. Stay tuned for much more from the PJ camp as October 15 draws near.
