Watch: My Morning Jacket Cover The Who with Eddie Vedder

Rob Slater on April 16, 2015

In 2006, My Morning Jacket was introducing us to songs like “It Beats 4 U,” “Off the Record” and “Wordless Chorus” as they cemented themselves as a top-flight rock band with the release of one of their best records to date, 2005’s Z. The Louisville rockers also jumped on a lengthy Italian tour with none other than Pearl Jam for an explosive double-bill that pulverized major markets in the state shaped like a boot.

One of the highlights of that collaboration came on September 19 in Turin as Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder joined MMJ for a cover of The Who’s “A Quick One While He’s Away.” As this is customarily “Throwback Thursday,” it seemed like a prime opportunity to reintroduce this hard-hitting nine-minute jam. Couple that with the fact that Eddie Vedder is about to pay tribute to The Who with Pete Townshend and My Morning Jacket graces the latest cover of Relix, it seems irresponsible not to share this video.
