Sitting atop his new rock and roll, motorized iron throne, Dave Grohl paid homage to a legendary Canadian rocker last night during Foo Fighters’ show in Toronto, their first of two at Molson Canadian Amphitheater. The band debuted a cover of Neil Young’s “Cinnamon Girl” towards the end of their set. Grohl commented that Young is his second favorite Canadian before the band ripped into the song.
Coincidentally enough, the performance came a few days after Grohl joined some members of Pearl Jam and Blind Melon for a rendition of the very same song prior to the Foos’ Fourth of July blowout in Washington, DC to celebrate their 20th anniversary. Watch the Foo Fighters’ version below.
In other Foos/Toronto news, the mother of Rush’s Geddy Lee was also in the house, hanging out with the mom of another rock star–Mrs. Grohl.
Thanks @foofighters & Dave’s Mom for making my mom’s night at your show… surreal! pic.twitter.com/2fKzIfvBCP
