Watch: Boston Bruins Goalie Tuukka Rask Plays “Back on the Train”
Last week we told you about some of music’s biggest hockey fans, well now it appears as if we have a hockey player to add to the list of big music fans. Boston Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask and a few teammates dropped by Nietzsche’s in Buffalo on a recent road trip to play the Sabres when Rask moved behind the drum kit to sit in with local band The Mustn’ts on a cover of Phish’s “Back on the Train.”
According to the Buffalo news, Rask attempted a rather ambitious fill at the end of the song, drawing a ribbing from his teammates. The next night, Rask sat in favor of backup Niklas Svedberg as the Bruins beat the Sabres 4-0.
Rask is your new favorite NHL goalie (although King Henrik has a case too) because not only does he love Phish, but he loves to rock. As he told Esquire, “I’m pretty much banned from the [locker room] DJ job because I like to mix in some Finnish heavy metal tunes and the guys really don’t like that.” Rock on, Tuukka.
