Lucy Woodward’s new album Till They Bang On The Door was released by Snarky Puppy’s new Universal-distributed label GroundUP. Snarky Puppy founder  Michael League produced the record  along with  Henry Hey and the core members of Snarky Puppy appear on the record.  This is the first release from the British chanteuse in six years and today we premiere the official video for “Live Live Live” from the record.

Woodward tells Relix, “‘Live Live Live’ is about making peace with that inner-kid who has the urge to be weird and free. I grew up in an artistic household and making music was just another language we spoke, but it could be quite isolating when everyone else was playing ball or spending time with their dolls. This song is about realizing without artistic creation, I wouldn’t have had a way of expressing myself. I wouldn’t have known how to find, or speak, my truth. The irony is, you grow up and realize the world is full of those freaks and weirdos who all think the same way.”

As for the video, she adds, “Director Andy LaViolette proposed the idea of a Mini-Lucy in the shape of a blonde, goofy, little puppet girl. Mini-Lucy has a deep curiosity and enthusiasm about the world. She admits that her artistic quirks and the ‘acrobat in her brain’ can’t be calmed. She battles a mild case of OCD in the first verse as she counts in twos and sings in the subway, but only when no one is looking. Mini-Lucy pops up randomly into adult Lucy’s subconscious throughout the video. Mini-Lucy is finally set free of Lucy’s subconcious when we reach the bridge of the song; both Lucy’s wear funeral veils, representing all their fears being laid to rest. She sings ‘you can’t be small, you’ll disappear and lose your way’ if you don’t make peace with your inner-little-weirdo self. By the end of the video, they finally sing in harmony together.”
