Earlier this month, instrumental funk outfit The New Mastersounds announced that they have teamed up with Lamar Williams Jr., vocalist and son of late Allman Brothers Bassist Lamar Williams, for a new single, “Trouble,” along with an upcoming full-length album that the group has been working on this month.
Today, we premiere the new video for “Trouble,” which also features pedal steel guitarist John Macy and Thievery Corporation drummer Jeff Franca. “In general, the song inspiration came from how I think people perceive each other without giving love a chance for them to learn and lend their abilities to each unique situation,” Williams, who first met New Mastersounds guitarist Eddie Roberts at a Colorado benefit organized by former Gregg Allman keyboardist Peter Levin, says of the track. Watch the video below.
The New Mastersounds also teamed up with DJ Williams’ Shots Fired and more this past weekend for Roberts’ The Payback benefit at Denver’s Ogden Theatre, raising over $23,000 for Urban Peak, which will turn the money into over 40 thousand meals for homeless youth in the area.
