Video Premiere: Midnight North “Long View”

Midnight North is currently working on a new studio record. The Bay Area country-rock group, which features Elliott Peck (vocals, guitar), Grahame Lesh (vocals, guitar), Connor O’Sullivan (bass) and Nathan Graham (drums) is recording the follow-up to 2017’s Under The Lights. In our review of that release, we noted, “This album feels like a page torn out of a tour diary, and Midnight North are in it for the long haul.” While Midnight North currently continues apace in the studio, the group has released a new single, “Long View.” Today we premiere the official video for that song, which was directed by Will Agee and edited by bassist Connor O’Sullivan’s brother, Robin.

Connor O’Sullivan tells Relix, “Northern California with our FOH engineer, Andrew Erickson. We had a few new songs that we had been playing live and some others that were just getting started. It was a fun and loose week of recording and working out new material. We had never really recorded as Midnight North this way. It was very relaxed, no real timetable, we were able to jam and have fun without the pressure of a real studio or being on the clock. This recording of ‘Long View’ came out pretty well so we decided to put it out as a single. I did a field recording of the waves out the front door of the beach house which you can hear in the intro and got experimental with some ambient tape loops for the psychedelic outro piece. For a couple days up there our filmmaker friend, Will Agee, came up to shoot some video of the band recording and hanging out on the beach. Once we got the footage from Will we were super impressed with the shots he had setup and decided we had enough material for a music video. My brother Robin O’Sullivan is a video editor so we sent him the footage and he put it all together.”
