Video Premiere: Jimbo Mathus “White Buffalo”
Here is the premiere of the video for the title track of the new new Jimbo Mathus album, White Buffalo. Mathus has this to say about the vid, which was directed by Daniel Lee Perea and Melanie Addington: "The new video for ‘White Buffalo’ was filmed at the beautiful and powerful Tunica/Biloxi Pow Wow in Marksville, LA . The “Mr. America” scenes were shot at the Tupelo Buffalo Park. The song itself is named for Tukato, the white buffalo born in Tupelo , MS. These animals are extremely rare (one in every 10 million) and are considered sacred, prophecy-fulfilling gifts from God by the Lakota Sioux. To me the song represents the crushing genocidal advance of capitalism that America claimed as its birthright, from the utter destruction of natural resources to the exploitation and humiliation of entire cultures: First Nation, Africans, convict leasing and others."
Mathus will appear at SXSW among many other shows, with his upcoming dates listed below the video.Jim Mathus Tour Dates
