The National Dedicate Stunning Rendition of “Peggy-O” to Bob Weir

The National’s headlining set at San Francisco’s Treasure Island included a very special dedication to Bob Weir just days after the guitarist celebrated his birthday.

“It was Bob Weir’s birthday like two days ago or three days ago, and we’re in San Francisco so, this is not a Grateful Dead song but it’s a song they played a lot,” guitarist Aaron Dessner remarked before launching into an absolutely gorgeous rendition of “Peggy-O.”

The National have long been working on a Grateful Dead tribute album with a whole bunch of friends. Weir has also shared the stage with the band and Aaron Dessner is slated to appear on Bob Weir’s album of “cowboy songs” also due out sometime in the near future.
