Yesterday, Phanart’s Pete Mason posted a video entitled “Shit Phish Fans Say,” depicting many of the stereotypical comments that are often heard in conversations between dedicated Phish fans. Mason was kind enough to share some details regarding the video’s creation process.

After seeing all the various ‘Shit Say Videos’ I took to Twitter and Facebook and asked folks what some things were that Phish fans often say. The response was overwhelming, with around 200 comments overall. I whittled them down to 100 or so and organized them by ‘at home,’ ‘in the lots’, ‘at the show’, and ‘in the car’.

My friend Jen Morgan, a photographer and filmmaker for Boston, contacted me when she saw that I was working on a video. Having worked with Jen before, she was the first and only person I was going to ask to film this. We made plans for March 11th to film the movie. I contacted local fans and friends to act in the film and they did superbly, completining initial filming in about three hours.

Jen edited the film and added the credits, as this was a highly collaborative project and all involved deserve the credit for creating a video of this nature. Thanks to all who helped and spread the video around. “Shit Phish Fans Say 2” is inevitably around the corner.
