Nathaniel Rateliff Leads “Willie’s Birthday Song” Sing-Along to Celebrate Willie Nelson’s 87th Year

“This is a song we wrote for a good friend of ours,” Nathaniel Rateliff says at the top of his new “Willie’s Birthday” tune, celebrating the country legend’s 87th circle around the sun. “We all feel he’s done a lot for us. A lot for the world. I hope you enjoy it, and we’d love for you to sing along.”

Guests on the song include Nelson’s sister, Bobbie and his sons Lukas and Micah, as well as Mickey Raphael, Nikki Lane, Courtney Marie Andrews, members of The Night Sweats and more.

The chorus offers the resounding refrain “Pass me that joint/ It’s Willie’s birthday/ Wipe away all of your tears/ Well the world’s gone crazy, but we’ve still got Willie/ And all the good things he’s done for us here.”

Earlier today, Edie Brickell also shared a tune in honor of Nelson’s birthday.
