This seemed like a fitting moment to revisit this question…
As of my today we finally have power restored to our home, following Hurricane/Tropical Storm/General Nuisance Irene. To be honest it wasn’t all that stressful, as we chatted, played board games, read books and of course listened to music (until our supply of C batteries was exhausted).
