Bill Murray visited Jimmy Kimmel last night as the host kicked off a week long residency at Brooklyn’s Academy of Music to discuss his new film Rock the Kasbah, due out this Friday. Interestingly enough, Murray related his character, rock and roll manager Richie Lanz, to a couple of notable promoters in music history including Bill Graham and Ron Delsener. 

“It’s not based on any real person, it’s based on a lifestyle of sleaze, I guess you’d call it,” Murray said. “There are a couple that I saw [in the character]–the great Bill Graham and I saw locally, Ron Delsener, I saw both of these guys at the peak of their insanity and they were fun to watch.”rock
