Arcade Fire’s Impeccable Album Rollout Now Takes Us to a Stream from Death Valley

June 1, 2017

Even if Arcade Fire isn’t your musical cup of tea, you have to hand it to these crafty Canadians when it comes to rolling out new material.

It appears as if the band’s new single, “Everything Now,” will officially arrive today with potentially more info about the band’s forthcoming album. But as of right now all eyes are fixed on a live stream from Death Valley where nothing in particular is happening. There is no music, no performance (the band is in Spain right now at Primavera Sound), nothing but a scroll displaying “Everything Now” in various languages.

So how did we get here? To recap, it started yesterday when the band’s social channels teased a message that simply said: “Stay tuned for Infinite Content.”

From there, festivalgoers at Primavera Sound noted that the band was selling the single as a limited edition vinyl. Someone was able to get their hands on one, run home and upload it to YouTube (it has since been deleted). The tune certainly carries the dance theme established with Reflektor, channeling an ABBA-like groove throughout to go with a punchy chorus.

While we wait, let’s all stare at the desert for a little while as Arcade Fire gives us yet another dazzling, bizarre album rollout.
