Review of moe. last night at the Paramount

moe. continued their summer tour last night at the Paramount in Peekskill, New York. As fans filled the theater there was lots of discussion of the previous night’s show—mainly about the two sets performed “round robin” style, with each band member selecting a song in rotation. Celebrating their 20th anniversary , moe. donned their three-piece suits and blazed through an hour-long, four-song set which highlighted the band’s jamming capabilities. The highlight of the first set, " Brent Black," showcased an extended drum solo by Vinnie Amico, with each band member filtering off the stage, before bassist Rob Derhak ignited the crowd once again with his stylistic signature slapping.

Second set had moe.rons on their feet rocking out to the classic “Dr.Graffenberg” which later sparked an all-out dance party during “George.” One new song found itself on the setlist last night, “Daydreaming,” the whimsical and lighthearted Derhak tune which segued into a stellar version of “Recreational Chemistry” which saw guitarist Al Schnier taking an incinderary solo. Tour continues for moe. with a show at Nateva Music Festival and continuing their annual July 4th tradition celebration at The Stone Pony.
