Watch the Deleted ‘Broad City’ Scene Featuring Mike “Shoe Guy” Gordon

Back in September, Phish bassist Mike Gordon was spotted on a New York City street hanging with Broad City co-creator and co-star Ilana Glazer, presumably filming a guest spot on the Comedy Central show, which aired its last episode at the end of last month. Though fans were disappointed to find that Gordon’s cameo didn’t make it into the final season, Broad City has now shared a clip of the deleted scene.

The short clip shows Glazer’s character killing time in NYC while broadcasting to Instagram, when she spots Gordon sitting down and using his own Instagram to show off his spiffy shoes (a habit that the Gordon cultivates in real life). Glazer compliments him but doesn’t get much out of the bassist. Nevertheless, she snaps a couple of choice photos with the captions “banter lol” and “#ShoeGuy.”

Glazer’s Broad City co-creator Abbi Jacobson has spoken about her appreciation for Phish several times in the past, including in this Relix interview and in a recent interview with Pitchfork. Jacobson has stuck a few Phish and jamband references into her and Glazer’s show throughout the years, and the two even had a great reaction to Trey Anastasio name-checking them on stage. Jacobson eventually was able to meet the members of Phish backstage at one of their New Jersey show during their summer 2018 tour.
