Johnny Irion, who often focuses on the folk music realm in his recordings and performances with his wife Sarah Lee Guthrie, has expanded his palette on his new solo album Driving Friend.  The Mother Hips’ Tim Bluhm produced the record, which features members of Dawes and Wilco, and draws on the sounds that galvanize Irion, from blues and gospel to country and, of course, folk.  Irion is currently on tour in support of the new record, which is now available.
