Watch Stephen Colbert and Sturgill Simpson Invade a Waffle House

Rob Slater on July 1, 2016

Stephen Colbert returned to the holiest of places for a drunk Southern man, Waffle House, in his native Charleston, South Carolina armed with Sturgill Simpson and a new song about the fine food establishment.

It all started with Colbert and Simpson getting in the Waffle House spirit, putting on the hats, flipping some waffles and chatting with the locals (all of whom were assumed to be high) before Simpson cut the ribbon on a new TouchTunes jukebox for the restaurant. They then queued up Simpson’s new tune “No Shirt, No Shoes, No Knuckleheads,” promoting the most sanitary of eating practices: Please wear clothes.

The “music video” for the song results in a lot of waffle throwing and hell-raising. So just another night at Waffle House.
