Dave Grohl and Pat Smear Drive Around L.A. Visiting David Bowie Landmarks

Dave Grohl and Pat Smear, bandmates in both Nirvana and Foo Fighters, already proved their love for David Bowie by teaming up with Beck in Los Angeles for “The Man Who Sold the World,” but now the guitar duo are taking it a step further by leading Playboy.com on a guided tour of some of Bowie’s most famous spot in LA.

Smear is definitely the historian in the video, recounting stalking Bowie around town while he was recording Station to Station. The two also visit the former house of Joan Jett, who lived around the corner from Bowie (they also get Jett on the phone as well) and end up at the Rainbow Bar (a spot frequented by Lemmy as well) to talk all things Bowie. Among the revelations is that time Grohl asked Bowie to collaborate with him on a song for a movie. Bowie declined, saying, “I wanted the movie and I got to be honest, it’s not my thing. I’m not made for these times.”

The two also discuss their choice to cover “The Man Who Sold the World” at Nirvana’s iconic MTV Unplugged set, which Smear says he and Cobain collaborated on choosing. Watch the full video below.
