The Ballroom Thieves will release their debut full-length, A Wolf In The Doorway, on April 21 (Blue Corn Music). The Boston-based guitar/cello/drum trio, who recently performed a live at Relix session, consist of Martin Earley (guitar/vocals), Devin Mauch (percussion/vocals) and Calin Peters (cello/vocals). Today we premiere “Wild Woman” from the genre-defying acoustic act. Earley, who contributed the lyrics, tells Relix, “”Wild Woman’ is a song about finding yourself in the midst of becoming a functioning adult, without much of a clue as to what that really means. It’s a song about meeting someone who makes you want to be a better or more complete person, someone who makes you want to determine exactly who you are and what’s important to you. The trick is that no one can do those things for you, and usually the whole process comes with its own array of pitfalls and roadblocks to overcome. It’s about being inspired, not by what someone says or does, but simply by the way that someone is.” Mauch adds, “The opening lyrics, ‘left the homestead and poured out into the unknown,’ seem to resound in the listener and cause a reflection of one’s own personal journey as the song progresses. Every night we play Wild Woman, I’m drawn to the passion behind its words and the personal connection others find in her story.”
