Mardi Gras in NYC. While New Orleans is most associated with Mardi Gras, NYC always does a great job bringing great music to those of us who can’t be in New Orleans for Fat Tuesday. I started my night at the world famous Blue Note for legendary McCoy Tyner with special guest Gary Bartz. Next up was Funk legend George Clinton & P Funk at BB King’s. For my third stop I made it over to Marquee in NYC for Nolafunks Mardi Gras party with Trombone Shorty & Orleans Ave. Last stop for the night was Brooklyn Bowl and Marco Benevento’s tribute to the late great New Orleans pianist James Booker. Marco’s trio was rounded out by Johnny Vidacovich and Andy Hess. Scott Metzger also guested on a few songs.
