Video & Full Setlist: Oteil Burbridge Opens VPAC Run with Covers of Weather Report, Grateful Dead, Oteil & The Pacemakers
On March 18, bassist Oteil Burbridge kicked off his first of three nights at the Vilar Performing Arts Center in Colorado, performing a single set of tunes with his trio format.
Burbridge opened with “Elegant People” by Weather Report, a tune he recently told Bass Magazine was a favorite of his kids.
From there, naturally, there were plenty of Grateful Dead favorites, nodding to the bassist’s tenure in Dead & Company. “Brown Eyed Women” was followed by a nice trio of “Cats Under The Stars”> “Bird Song”> “Golden Road.”
Aoxomoxoa cut “Doin’ That Rag” came next, as did a sweeping segue from “To Lay Me Down” into “Bertha.”
The bassist then threw it back to his days with Oteil And The Peacemakers, with a version of “Too Many Times,” before closing with “Butter Biscuit.”
On March 19 and 20, Burbridge will continue his VPAC run with a pay-per-view performances on FANS.
Burbridge will be joined by keyboardist Joey Porter for pay-per-view shows on March 19 and March 20. The March 20 gig will also include banjoist Chris Pandolfi of The Infamous Stringdusters.
