Umphrey’s Lighting Designer to Launch Reality Web Series

Umphrey’s McGee lighting designer Jeff Waful, in association with Relix.com, is launching his own web-based video series this spring, titled Jeff Waful +1. The show promises to portray “two very different sides of the music industry: a behind-the-scenes look at life on the road and a Charlie Rose-style one-on-one interview program.” A trailer for the new series can be found here.
Waful, a former Jambands.com news editor and Relix staff member who’s interviewed everyone from Neil Young, Wayne Coyne and Trey Anastasio, got his start in lighting design with the band moe. in 2004. While he’s continued to periodically contribute to both publications, he now turns the mic’and, in this case, the video camera’on himself as he documents his life on the road while also launching an interview-based music television show in New York City.
The show aims to “take viewers on the tour bus and backstage’ while ’filing intimate reports from the road and portraying the real story of a touring rock band.”
Stay tuned for Jeff Waful +1 ’s debut this spring.
