Last night, May 7, Sammy Hagar participated in his latest concert during his ongoing residency-specific spurt of performances at Dolby Live at Park MGM in Las Vegas. The Wednesday show included a special arrival, the Grateful Dead’s Bobby Weir, who was in town ahead of tomorrow’s pick-up of Dead & Company gigs at the state-of-the-art Sphere arena.

During the midweek show, Hagar flexed his effervescent career with pulls from across his performance history, beginning with his new single, “Encore, Thank You, Goodnight,” before a tight push through Van Halen tracks “Top of the World,” “Panama,” and “Runaround,” which established the concert motif, a mix of material touching on different musical eras.

For Weir’s stage time, Hagar seemed unabashedly thoughtful with his song choice, beckoning to his early days and time spent with Montrose, on the first song he ever wrote, the 1973 release, “Bad Motor Scooter.” The host followed up after the sit-in, writing about the experience on social media. See below.

Following last night’s sit-in, Weir will join his Dead & Company bandmates for the ongoing Dead Forever experience at Sphere Las Vegas. Purchase tickets and learn more at deadandcompany.com.
