Yesterday on YouTube, NPR Music shared their latest Tiny Desk concert featuring a four-song collaboration between Andrew Bird and Iron & Wine, who are currently on a cross-country run.
The duo eased into Andrew Bird’s original “Make a Picture” from his 2022 album, Inside Problems, teaming up on the catchy lyrics and picking to the beat, which also saw Bird use his instrument for multi-purposes during the epic opening number.
To follow, the musicians turned to Iron & Wines material with “Flightless Bird, American Mouth” from his 2007 effort, The Shepherd’s Dog, after some friendly banter and an introduction by Bird, who opened the number with a spotless violin solo.
By the third song of the set, the musician’s chemistry seemed undeniable as they turned to Bird’s repertoire once more on “Left Handed Kisses” before concluding the four-song set on the latter’s 2012 album, Break It Yourself, on “Orpheo Looks Back.”
To follow up on their Tiny Desk set, the duo will continue the Outside Problems Tour at Chicago’s Salt Shed this evening, along with Meshell Ndegeocello.
