Today, The Smile, a collaboration from Radiohead’s Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood and Sons Of Kemet’s Tom Skinner released their debut single “You Will Never Work In Television Again.” The track was first heard during a secret show thrown by the band as part of last year’s Glastonbury event Live at Worthy Farm.
“The Smile came about from just wanting to work on music with Thom in lockdown,” Greenwood said in an interview with NME. “We didn’t have much time, but we just wanted to finish some songs together. It’s been very stop-start, but it’s felt a happy way to make music.”
“You Will Never Work In Television Again” serves as the first official release from the band produced by Nigel Godrich. The Smile have also announced they will play three consecutive live shows all within 24 hours at Magazine London on Jan. 29 and 30. The performances will unite a live show, livestream and a cinematic film captured by award-winning director, Paul Dugdale. Dugdale is known for his work with Adel, Paul McCartney and The Rolling Stones.
