Grateful Dead, Bonnie Raitt, Eric Krasno, Aaron Neville and Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Molly Tuttle, Snarky Puppy and More Win Big at The 65th Annual Grammys Awards
Last night, the 65th Annual Grammy Awards Award ceremony took place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. The evening saw recognition of artists throughout many music communities; however, the acknowledgment of artists in the live music scene was nearly unprecedented, especially in recent years.
Some of the highlights included The Grateful Dead’s first-ever win–not including their Lifetime Achievement Award back in 2017–for Best Boxed or Special Limited Edition Package for their live album In and Out of the Garden: Madison Square Garden ’81, ’82, ’83. While, Soulive guitarist Eric Krasno took home yet another gilded gramophone for his work on Aaron Neville’s Stompin’ Ground, which also marked the Dirty Dozen brass band’s first Grammy – in the category of Best American Roots Performance.

Other big wins and moments from the evening included Molly Tuttle’s first Grammy, in which she was given the Best Bluegrass Album Grammy for her album Crooked Tree with Golden Highway; several awards for Brandi Carlile, including Best Rock Performance for “Broken Horses,” and Best Americana Album for In These Silent Days; Bonnie Raitt received huge and well-deserved recognition for her work “Made Up Mind” and “Just Like That,” for which she won Best Americana Performance and Song of the Year, respectively. Snarky Puppy secured the award for Best Contemporary Instrumental Album for Empire Central.
Live musical highlights from the telecast included Mick Fleetwood taking part in the tribute for the late Christine McVie, Lucicus backing Carlile during her segment and Dave Matthews Band trumpeter Rashawn Ross playing in the house band and jamming with Stevie Wonder and Chris Stapleton during an homage to Motown.
Other notable moments of recognition over the evening include Wet Leg taking home an award for Best Alternative Music Album; the great Willie Nelson winning Best Country Solo Performance for “Live Forever” and Best Country Album for A Beautiful Time; Jazz Fest: a New Orleans Story recognized as Best Music Film; Taj Mahal & Ry Cooder winning Best Traditional Blues Album; Edgar Winter locking in Best Contemporary Blues Album; Wilco’s Yankee Hotel Foxtrot (20th Anniversary Super Deluxe Edition) acknowledged for Best Historical Album and Best Album Notes; and Jack Antonoff walking on stage to secure yet another Grammy, this time for Producer of the Year in the Non-Classical division.
