On Sunday, May 3, Tedeschi Trucks Band arrived at Fair Grounds Race Course for their hotly anticipated New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival entry. The Southern-rooted band’s latest live entry arrived amidst their ongoing Future Soul Tour, which backs the release of their sixth studio album. The nature of the aforementioned live support informed parts of their setlist before the ensuing arrival of Derek Trucks’ Allman Brothers Band collaborators, Jaimoe, Warren Haynes and Marc Quinones. The reunion of sorts trailed earlier-set sit-ins by George Porter Jr. and Teddy Swims.
True to the track’s intent, Tedeschi Trucks Band used the timeless classic “Let the Good Times Roll” as the festival set’s official starting point, before moving into Future Soul features “Crazy Cryin’” and “Who Am I.” For their next selection, the group performed “Get What You Deserved,” which came before their initial guest arrival.
Prior collaborator Teddy Swims accompanied the band during a revival of the Traffic original-turned-Joe Cocker-associated “Feel Alright?” Previously, Tedeschi Trucks Band and Swims covered the track during the 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, where they honored inductee Cocker. Their latest spin added more meaning after the passing of lyricist Dave Mason last month.
After Swims left the stage, the group returned to form, cracking into “Future Soul” and a high-powered take on Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young’s still poignant “Ohio.” They entered “Let Me Get By” and “Just Won’t Burn,” before welcoming the great George Porter Jr. on the Sly & the Family Stone pairing “You Can Make It If You Try” > “Everyday People.” After the Crescent City stalwart walked off stage, Tedeschi Trucks Band carved space for “Bound for Glory” ahead of the final segment of their festival stand.
The last two song slots were filled by the Allman Brothers Band originals “Dreams” and “Whipping Post,” with extra support from members and associated players Jaimoe, Warren Haynes and Marc Quinones. Watch fan-shot videos below.
Tedeschi Trucks Band’s tour continues tomorrow, Tuesday, May 5, at Truist Park in Atlanta. For tickets and additional information, visit tedeschitrucksband.com/tour.
