Song Premiere: Mungion “One Night Stan”

Chicago-based jam quartet Mungion will release their sophomore LP Ferris Wheel’s Day Off on October 5, and the new album features not only the band’s core four (guitarist Justin Reckamp, keyboardist Joe Re, bassist Sean Carolan and drummer Matt Kellen), but 10 special guests over 10 tracks.

Today we premiere the first single off of Ferris Wheel’s Day Off dubbed “One Night Stan.” A poppy, lighthearted composition stretching over four and a half minutes, the single was produced by Ben Factor, a close friend of the band and constant collaborator.

“‘One Night Stan’ was a fun tune to give the studio treatment to,” Reckamp tells Relix. “It’s been in the live rotation since Matt [Kellen, drums] joined the band in 2016, but this arrangement is quite different than what anyone has heard. We dialed the tempo back a bit, focused on having strong vocals and Joe [Re, keys/vocals] arranged some great horn parts. It’s just a peek into what the rest of the record holds!”

Mungion will be on the road through the late summer and mid-fall, including dates with The Motet and Aqueous.  Visit the band’s official website for a full list of tour dates.
