Rosh Hashanah Hosted by New York’s Brooklyn Bowl to Feature Traditional Services and Musical Offerings
New York’s Brooklyn Bowl has detailed its forthcoming Rosh Hashanah events, slated to arrive at the favored Williamsburg, N.Y. venue beginning Wednesday, October 2. The initial offering picks up at 7:30 p.m., with an offering of music from Jeremiah Lockwood, Isaac Garnder, John Bollinger, Jordan McLean, Stuart Bogie, Yula Beeri, Yusuke Yamamoto, and a traditional service led by Rabbi Daniel Brenner.
In continuation, on Thursday, October 3, at 10 a.m., Rosh Hashanah Morning Service and Luchin will bring the aforementioned group together again. In addition to music, which functions as a centerpiece of the Rosh Hashanah celebration at Brooklyn Bowl, Rabbi Brenner will deliver a Torah reading, prayers, plain-sense explanations of the holiday’s religious aspects, a Shofar blowing, and meditation.
Shifting locations for the ensuing Kol Nidre event, which will occur on Friday, October 11, at 7:30 p.m., at The Blue Gallery, more music and prayers will be offered ahead of the final gathering, Yom Kippur, slated for Saturday, October 12. The 13th annual morning service will once again present musician contributions from Lockwood, the longstanding musical director for these events.
As mentioned, the occasions also mark the inclusion of fellow artists and past participants, such as the core Bowl Hashanah band, consisting of singer and bassist Yula Beeri, drummer John Bollinger, saxophonist and JRAD/Arcade Fire/Antibalas contributor Stuart Bogie, Antibalas trumpeter Jordan McLean, Antibalas guitarist Timothy Allen and organist Yusuke Yamamoto.
