Rolling Stone Presents: Amplified, The Immersive Rock Experience at Illuminarium Las Vegas (A Gallery + Recap)
On March 12, Illuminarium Las Vegas unveiled a new frontier for music storytelling with Rolling Stone Presents: Amplified, The Immersive Rock Experience, an unprecedented exhibit celebrating the rich and enthralling history of rock.
In the heart of Las Vegas’ AREA15, the one-of-a-kind partnership between rock music’s foremost record and the cutting-edge 360-degree sensory space connects visitors with the electrifying action of rock’s rise and reign like never before. With narration from actor and rock aficionado Kevin Bacon, the experience is a whirlwind tour across genres and generations that steps back into history to inspire a deeper understanding of the music’s present and future.
Amplified features more than 1,000 photographs, 200 rare videos and 1,332 Rolling Stone covers documenting over 300 iconic artists who forever changed music and the wider world; the intergenerational all-star lineup includes The Beatles, Janis Joplin, Tina Turner, Chappell Roan, Green Day, Lizzo and many more generation-defining performers.
This trove of rock artifacts is fitted to the tremendous scale of Illuminarium, using 4K laser projection, 3D audio, and interactive elements to assemble a fittingly titanic tribute to a genre and culture that continue to radically reshape popular culture. Cutting-edge enhancements like LiDAR, Holoplot sound arrays and sensory effects make the Vegas attraction powerfully immersive.
Amplified’s affecting environment begins with a merch booth in the lobby and carries on through a series of eight sound and color-drenched chapters devoted to rock’s greatest acts, and the messages they shot across the world through their music. The exhibit features daring contributions from over 500 photographers and directors, including Mark Seliger, Danny Clinch, Lynn Goldsmith, Anton Corbijn, Bob Gruen, Jim Marshall, Neil Preston, Janette Beckman and Pooneh Ghana.
In all, Amplified, The Immersive Rock Experience is unquestionably one of the most comprehensive collections of rock imagery ever endeavored and an achievement in experiential storytelling. The program plays daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Illuminarium Las Vegas. Tickets start at $39, plus fees. Secure yours here.
