Point Break Festival Unveils Inaugural Lineup: Sublime, Rebelution, Stephen Marley, Wiz Khalifa and More

Point Break Festival has announced Sublime and Rebelution as the headliners for its inaugural presentation, set to stage at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront on June 1-2. The all-new festival boasts a mix of classic and current reggae artists conjuring the sunbeams and soul of a tropical retreat. Beyond the top-billed acts, an additional 22 bands will crash on the coast for a weekend centered in shoreline music and entertainment.

The esteemed reggae-rock ensemble Sublime will lead the first night of the festival, assuming the spotlight on Saturday as the second presentation of the band’s new lineup. Jakob Nowell, son of original lead singer Bradley Nowell, will front the reunited outfit, joining founding members drummer Bud Gaugh and bassist Eric Wilson, who announced his split from Sublime with Rome in December to focus on the new group. The Grammy-nominated Rebelution, known for its trademark melange of reggae, pop, rock and hip-hop grooves, will anchor the final day of Point Break, capping off an extensive run of festival performances and preceding its summer tour.

Illustrating the many different faces of the genre and culture, Point Break’s lineup opens beyond the Californian headliners to offer performances from laid-back hip-hop artist Wiz Khalifa, soulful vocal torchbearer Stephen Marley and high-energy roots pioneers Steel Pulse. Other notable performers who skew towards contemporary, electrified sounds include Pepper, Tribal Seeds, Fortunate Youth and Hirie. Further acts down the bill include The Expendables, Bumpin Uglies and Denm, as well as Tropidelic, Artikal Sound System and Ballyhoo. Away from the stages, attendees are also welcome to enjoy gourmet bites from local restauranteurs, odds and ends from craftworkers and artisans and an array of classic boardwalk activities.

Presale for Point Break Festival begins this Thursday, March 7 at 10 a.m. ET. General on-sale begins Friday, March 8 at 10 a.m. ET. For tickets and more information, visit pointbreakfestival.com.
