A new 12-disc box set, featuring 123 tracks that present John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s nonviolent commitment to political activism through protest anthems that promote peace and love, aptly titled Power to the People (Super Deluxe Edition), via Capitol/UMe, will arrive on October 10, Lennon’s 85th birthday. As a preview, a previously unreleased and newly remixed video of The Beatles’ “Come Together,” from Lennon and Ono’s famed One on One Concert, is out now.

The set provides a roadmap that tracks the couple’s start in the British countryside, migration to the lauded Greenwich Village. This move fueled their shared artistic endeavors and inspired further political and environmental advocacy, leading to some of their best compositions and features of the box set.

Produced by Sean Ono Lennon and a team of five-time Grammy winners, who took home the 2025 Grammy for Best Boxed Set or Special Limited Edition Package for Mind Games – The Ultimate Collection (Super Deluxe Edition), Power to the People follows a similar charge, this time meditating on the couple’s political era and spanning the Plastic Ono Band’s 1969 anti-war paean “Give Peace A Chance,” to 1972’s Sometime In New York City.

The box set spans from in-studio work to live performances, including 1972’s triumphant One To One Concerts at New York’s Madison Square Garden, which was Lennon’s only full-length concert after departing from The Beatles, and the last show the couple played together.

“That Madison Square Garden gig was the best music I enjoyed playing since The Cavern or even Hamburg,” John Lennon told NME in 1972. “It was just the same kind of feeling when The Beatles used to really get into it.”

“The One To One concert was our effort in Grassroots Politics,” writes Yoko Ono Lennon in the Preface to Power To The People. “It embodied what John and I strongly believed in – Rock for Peace and Enlightenment. And this one in Madison Square Garden turned out to be the last concert John and I did together. Imagine Peace. Peace is Power. Power To The People!”

Filling out the collection are unreleased demos, home recordings, jam sessions, live cuts, and one-of-a-kind mixes, making Power to the People (Super Deluxe Edition) a must for connoisseurs of Lennon’s post-Beatles career.

Speaking of his experience, Sean Ono Lennon says, “I was completely floored putting this collection together and getting to remix the concerts and hearing all the unreleased material from my parents’ archive for the first time.”

He continues, “People may not realize how special it is for me to hear my dad talking or to see him. I grew up with a set number of images and audio clips that everyone’s familiar with. So to come across things that I’ve never seen or heard is really deep for me, because it’s almost like getting more time with my dad.”

When I was eleven, my mum put out the Live in New York City album and film. So I grew up listening to it. It was a concert that had a legendary status in my mind, because it was my dad’s last concert. For the concerts, Paul Hicks and Simon Hilton and I spent a lot of time finding the best possible balance to keep the feeling of a live show while refining the overall sound as much as possible and Sam Gannon did some meticulous and miraculous work with audio restoration. I won’t disclose all our techniques but there was some ‘movie magic’ required, and I think in the end, the shows sound better than ever,”  he concludes.
