Nashville to Welcome Beer-Sponsored Family Music Events: Touch of Brews & 12 South Jamboree!

Nashville, Tenn., is set to usher in two beer-fueled family events this October; the first, a Grateful Dead-inspired gathering entitled Touch of Brews, will take place at Sevier Park on Saturday, Oct. 8, while the second coming to Nashville, named 12 South Jamboree! will commence over three Saturdays throughout October – on Oct. 15, Oct. 22 and Oct. 29. The latter of the two events is presented by Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., while the former is presented by Terrapin Beer Company.

This year’s Touch of Brews marks the second time the Grateful Dead event has taken place, and for the second annual gathering, they’ll welcome two sets of Nashville is Dead featuring Mike Miz & Dan Lebo and Special Guests, Hooteroll?, The Stolen Faces, Tennessee Dead,
Tennessee Warblers, and the Rock N Roll Playhouse Grateful Dead Edition. Dan Lebowitz, who is known for his work with ALO and Phil Lesh & Friends, will act as the artist at large. The gathering will also welcome food trucks, Shakedown Street vendors, Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream and an expanded Free Kid Zone.

Each Saturday of the 12 South Jamboree! will kick off at 11 a.m. with a kid-focused acoustic set, followed by the Rock N Roll Playhouse at noon. The Rock N Roll Playhouse shows include Women Who Rock on Oct. 15, Rock N Roll For Kids on Oct. 22, and a David Bowie edition on Oct. 29, which will also serve as a Halloween edition featuring sets from the decades – ’60s, ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s – all with musical costumes.

Both events are in support of Be Well In School, a program that teaches mindfulness as a movement and as a proactive behavior management system. By offering an alternative approach to traditional discipline, they hope to teach effective strategies for self-regulation through wellness strategies and tools.
