Yes, you’re reading that right. Andy Frasco has assembled a dream team of some of the jam scene’s biggest names for “Life Is Easy,” the latest single from his forthcoming album Growing Pains.
The fourth single from Frasco’s 10th studio album, due to release on May 23 via his own Fun Machine records imprint, is a reeling, heartfelt and humorous anthem about the stacked deck against finding happiness amid modern chaos and a guide to breathing easier despite long odds. It’s got the witty pangs of high satire and all the care and consideration of a journal entry, matched through Frasco’s distinctly high-spirited and insightful brand of storytelling. With storied performers Mike Gordon, Billy Strings, Daniel Donato and Steve Poltz laying down a warm and resonant arrangement, the track comes together as an inspiring singalong and a solid candidate for a generational anthem.
“This is a song about turning off the news for a little bit and just enjoying life and stop fearing what we can’t control,” Frasco shared in a release. “There’s so much craziness going on in the world—sometimes all we really need to do is go outside and listen to the birds sing.”
“Andy Frasco is a mids-smokin’ Mitzvah for everyone who has ears to hear,” Donato praised. “He has the comedic audacity of Andrew Dice Clay, the minimalist profundity of Shel Silverstein, wrapped in a warm-hearted Mr. Rogers style demeanor tinged with psychedelic illumination.”
“Being involved in this project was a dream come true,” Poltz added. “Always a good time being in the Frasco orbit. He’s up for anything and that’s why he’s so much fun to be around.”
