John Mayer Joins Harvest Moon Charity Event Lineup, Featuring Neil Young and Stephen Stills

John Mayer is the latest musician to sign on to participate in Harvest Moon, an afternoon benefit concert featuring already-announced musical contributions, Neil Young and Stephen Stills. The event, which will raise funds for Painted Turtle and The Bridge School, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, is slated to occur on October 5 at the former’s camp location in Lake Hughes, Calif., 50 minutes from The Getty in Los Angeles.
The impending concert appearance represents Mayer’s initial gig after concluding Dead & Company’s 30-night residency at Sphere in Las Vegas. The one-off date follows a lively year for the guitarist, who closed out his Solo Acoustic tour in Europe this past spring after a lengthy stretch of dates in the US that preceded concerts across the pond.
The impending “Harvest Moon” event is intended to emulate the daytime feel of a festival landscape, with family-focused activities, food trucks and other offerings to complete the experience. All proceeds from the occasion will support The Painted Turtle’s mission to provide kids with significant medical conditions the opportunity to take part in free camp access year-round, while The Bridge School focuses its efforts on educational services for children with physical and speech disabilities.
Before the aforementioned artists deliver their independent sets, the marimba ensemble Masanga will provide the event’s opening display. At this time, more guests are slated to be added to the charity concert bill. For the latest information and tickets, visit www.harvestmoongathering.com.
