Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit have announced a new album, which will follow 2020’s Reunions. On Monday, the songwriter and his record label, Southeastern Records, delivered a teaser trailer showing scenes of the artist and his band working together on their eighth studio LP, Weathervanes, due June 9.

In addition to the teaser trailer, the musician followed up today via a press release, where he shared his comments on the project and the first single, “Death Wish.” “There is something about boundaries on this record,” said Isbell. “As you mature, you still attempt to keep the ability to love somebody fully and completely while you’re growing into an adult and learning how to love yourself.”

The video, shared via social media yesterday afternoon, finds ESPN’s Wright Thompson introducing the artist’s “latest collection of grown-up songs.” Paired with clips of the band are added visual elements that present parts of the group’s tracking list, including “Death Wish,” “Volunteer,” “White Beretta” and more.

Isbell is captured with guitar in hand, working alongside his bandmates–Chad Gamble, Jimbo Hart, Derry Deborja, Sadler Vaden–and frequent collaborator and wife, Amanda Shires. In the video, the narrator labels the collection as “songs about adult love, about change, about the danger of nostalgia and the interrogation of myths, about cruelty and regret and redemption.”
