Today, Greensky Bluegrass announced they’ll put on “a rare and important Halloween Performance” at The Warfield Theatre in San Fransico on Oct. 29. The five-piece American bluegrass outfit will be joined by Holly Bowling and Tea Leaf Green over the course of the evening.
Greensky Bluegrass shared the announcement on social media in the iconic font and format of the Grateful Dead’s beloved live album One from the Vault, which was recorded on Aug. 13, 1975, and released on April 15, 1991.
Though Greensky Bluegrass have left much to be wondered about the performance, given Bowling’s history of transcribing the music of the Grateful Dead into arrangements for solo piano, The Golden City’s deep connection with the Grateful Dead, the stylization of the invitation and the fact that Greensky Bluegrass has performed over a dozen songs from the Grateful Dead’s catalog over the years – playing a “Dead Set” in Winston-Salem, N.C. in 2017 and Bend, Ore. on Nov. 4, 2015 – the evening is almost sure to feature many delights for fans of San Francisco and America’s greatest exports.
