Grahame Lesh & Friends to Host The Heart of Town, A Three-Night Concert Series Celebrating the Grateful Dead at Pier 48

The San Francisco Giants and Relix have teamed up to present the Heart of Town, a three-night concert series celebrating the Grateful Dead and the city that shaped the band. Hosted by Grahame Lesh & Friends, nightly performances will take place from July 31 to August 2 at Pier 48 in Mission Rock, near Oracle Park.

Heart of Town will host an all-star lineup of musicians with roots in the jam scene and mutual esteem for the Grateful Dead songbook. Featuring a total of 45 participants over the three-night stretch, the roster boasts fixtures from both coasts and the Bayou, allowing the band to take the music in different directions and draw on the Dead’s bank of influences.

The artist lineup includes members from JGB, Trey Anastasio Band, Goose, North Mississippi All-Stars, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, Dark Star Orchestra, Dawes, ALO, Grateful Shred, Sam Grisman Project, Eggy and more, when the event kicks off on Thursday, July 31 at 8 p.m. Lesh & Friends follow ups, August 1-2, will occur after Dead & Company’s Golden Gate Park performances, starting later, at 11 p.m., so no one misses the music.

The artist lineup includes: Adam Deitch, Alex Koford, Andy Frasco, Cody Dickinson, Cotter Ellis, Dan “Lebo” Lebowitz, Duane Betts, Elliott Peck, Eric Krasno, Eric Coomes, Garret Deloian, Griffin Goldsmith, Holly Bowling, Ivan Neville, Jackie Greene, Jake Brownstein, Jake Peavy, Jason Crosby and Jennifer Hartswick.

As well as Jeremy Hoenig, John Lee Shannon, John Kadlecik, John Medeski, John Molo, JP McLean, Kanika Moore, Karina Rykman, Karl Denson, Leslie Mendelson, Luther Dickinson, Melvin Seals, Mikaela Davis, Natalie Cressman, Nathan Graham, Neal Francis, Nicki Bluhm, Pete Sears, Reed Mathis, Sam Grisman, Scott Law, Steve Molitz, Taylor Goldsmith, Tom Hamilton, Tony Hall and Trevor Week.

“My family has recently talked about the Grateful Dead’s legacy as a grand old tree, still growing after 60 years. Its roots are deep in the earth of America’s musical history. Its trunk is the original members of the band, and its branches and leaves are all the musical offshoots and musicians who were and continue to be inspired by the music of the Grateful Dead. The Heart of Town is a celebration of that 60-year legacy, and I am honored to host this all-star celebration at Pier 48 in Mission Rock with all of these beautiful musicians – all of these branches on the tree,” said Grahame Lesh.

“I’m so thrilled to be among the countless Deadheads flocking to beautiful San Francisco to celebrate 60 years of the Grateful Dead – the timeless music of my father Phil and his dear friends – in Golden Gate Park with Dead & Company. And I know that San Francisco will be filled with that music all weekend – I’m honored to contribute to that with all of my friends at The Heart of Town.”

“We’re proud to stand with our partners to present The Heart of Town at Pier 48,” said Larry Baer, President & CEO, San Francisco Giants. “Beyond an amazing celebration of music, it’s a gathering that embodies San Francisco’s enduring spirit. As Mission Rock takes shape as a vibrant destination for culture and connection, we’re thrilled to collaborate with Grahame Lesh, Relix, Terrapin, and Dayglo to bring such an incredible event to the city we love.”
