On Monday, May 4, an all-star group of musicians, local leaders, actors and athletes will come together for the 504LIFE New Orleans livestream telethon event. According to a press release, “the initiative’s goal is to raise funds to purchase and deliver lifesaving Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for New Orleans area hospitals and clinics.”
Among those performing will be George Porter Jr., Ivan Neville, Rebirth Brass Band, Tank & The Bangas, Jon Batiste and many more.
In addition, the event will feature appearances by New Orleans Mayor Latoya Cantrell, Peyton, Eli, Cooper and Archie Manning, Nicole Kidman, Matthew McConaughey, Octavia Spencer, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and more.
“Throughout our history New Orleans has always been resilient in the face of adversity. The city has retained its unique culture through floods disease, wars and corruption,” George Porter Jr. told Relix. “We will survive this and hopefully the people who love our city from far away will be able to return to us. In the meantime we will continue to create the music the world loves.”
“I’ve shot two movies in New Orleans, and I’d say it’s one of only two cities in the USA that are truly unique — NYC and NOLA — no other town has so much character,” Joseph Gordon-Levitt told Relix about his relationship to New Orleans. “And New York has nothing on a second line.”
The show begins at at 5:04 p.m. CT (6:04 p.m. ET) and it will run for 5 hours. According to a press release, “it will consist of both live appearances and pre-recorded videos from nationally recognized entertainers and local NOLA legends.”
