Today, Elton John was announced as the first headliner for Glastonbury 2023. The confirmation of his slot on the Pyramid Stage set for Sunday Night, June 25, 2023, came after Elton John sparked hopes of an additional show for his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour by posting a photo of himself onstage with the text “One final date to announce…” on his Instagram story.

“We are incredibly excited to announce that the one and only @EltonOfficial will headline the Pyramid Stage on Sunday night at Glastonbury 2023, for what will be the final UK show of his last ever tour,” organizers tweeted.

In an additional statement, Glastonbury co-organizer Emily Eavis said: “It gives me enormous pleasure to let you know that the one and only Elton John will be making his first ever Glastonbury appearance, headlining the Pyramid Stage on the Sunday night next year. This will be the final UK show of Elton’s last ever tour, so we will be closing the Festival and marking this huge moment in both of our histories with the mother of all send-offs.” She added, “We are so very happy to finally bring the Rocket Man to Worthy Farm!”

Yesterday, the official BBC Glastonbury Twitter account also teased Elton John’s debut at Worthy Farm by sharing a screenshot with its followers of a “stunning shot” that was caught on the official Glastonbury webcam.

When viewers clicked on the link, a rocket could be seen in the sky above an illuminated Pyramid stage.

Glastonbury weekend will commence on June 23 through 25, 2023, and the Paris shows will commence on June 21, 27 and 28, 2023, creating a convenient gap in Elton John’s schedule for the beloved U.K. festival.

Tickets for the 2023 gathering sold out last month. General sale tickets were snapped up in one hour, while coach packages went in under 25 minutes. According to Glastonbury’s organizers, “demand far exceeded supply.”

Elton John will continue to tour until Saturday, July 8, 2023, following stops in Australia, New Zealand and throughout Europe. Find tickets and learn more about the rest of the dates here.
